O2 sensor problems 200 1983

Okay, I've figured out what was going on with the idle. I was checking out a skematic in my Haines manual and noticed that the Ignition coil is connected in some sort of cycle or relay or something with the O2 sensor. I did recently install a tachometer in my car and ran it directly from the ignition coil. After disconnecting the tach, the car now runs normal again, however; I'm stuck with a useless tach in my dashboard.

I got the tach from a junker and replaced the tach with the huge clock from my instrument panel. I attempted to find the original signal wire in my wiring harness (white with a red stripe) to hook up to the tach, but I was unable to get any reading from the engine. The only thing I could think of was running a signal wire directly from the ignition coil. The tach worked great, but then I got the whole idling/O2 problem.

Any ideas?
