OTOH, if your intake manifold gasket is original and your car is already wearing one high-milage barge, it is a cheap and easy task to just R&R the manifold, and do the ECT then. The harness unclips below and slips oout/in between the #3 & #4 'takes.

A new gasket will rule out any air leaks which might be causing idle and drivablity problems.
