look up crutchfield on a search engine. It's probably www.crutchfield.com but I'm not possitive. They have a large selection of stereos. The size stereo you want is a single DIN, I don't recall what DIN means but that's what you want. there are also 1.5 DIN and double DIN decks but they won't fit your car. Also from crutchfield you can get installation kits. It's just a piece of plastic shaped to fill the hole left by your stock stereo. You will also need a wiring harness adapter. I forgot to say, this is a very simple DIY project. Anyway, if you're coming from a stock stereo then this adapter will literally just plug right in after you attach to the new stereo. Everything is labeled well and straigh forward. As far as the speakers you need to buy adapters so that the stock grills will attach to the after market speakers. The problem is many after market speakers stick out too far to fit under the grill so make sure you talk to whom ever you're buying from to make sure they can recommend the correct model speaker for the application. I understand your hatered of shopping but somethings must be heard, the purr of the engine on a used car, the tone of a guitar, and the sound of speakers for a stereo system. The deck you can buy online but the speakers have got to be listended to. Some speakers produce better highs or lows. Some speakers produce these aspects of sound to much for some listeners and you will be miserable listening to you're shiny new deck if you speakers don't sound good to you. You also need to make sure that power wise everything is compatable. If you over or under power things they can sound bad. I am a big beleiver in listening to your system before you buy it at the store so go to Circuit City, or Good Guys or Best Buy or a car stereo shop of wherever they sell car stereo equipment and use your ears. The products on the market toady are all 10000000 times (I don't know how many zeroes I put but you get the picture) better then the stock stereos in our Volvos, not because Volvo put a bad stereo in the car but because technology today has prgressed so much.
So, when you go to buy this stuff, have an idea in your mind of what you want, most CD players now have graffics that annoy me and ranging in price from about $175- to $1500- or $2000-. Speakers for a volvo can range from $25- to $500-. With both the more expensive stuff is better quality usually but it may or may not sound better to you. No matter what the idiot selling you this stuff says, if it doesn't sound good to you don't buy it, if the less expensive stuff sounds better, he won't day if he makes a little less commission. Good luck and let us now what you come up with. Your opinions on what you buy will help others.
