Thanks for the welcome and advice.
The car has two spaces for instruments next the void where the stereo should be (Will a DIN sized stereo unit fit properly? I may have to find an old Volvo one from somewhere). A clock resides in the top aperture, with the bottom one covered with a blank, as per the 1988 M/Y 240 brochure that I have. I am thinking of getting an oil pres. gauge and voltmeter. I am wondering if the wiring loom is ready for the instruments or if the wiring will need to be taken from the scrap car with the gauges. Is the oil pres. guage the electrical type or capillary type?
I also have a 1984 M/Y brochure which shows the radio space taken up by all manner of dials, with the Volvo brand radio in the console. It's an enormous picture but I will try to get it one here.
P.S. Love your user name!
