HHmmm I have the same problem (afraid of screwing something up) comes from hours spent wrenching on old air cooled Vee Dubs.. replace a part? no big deal! untill you go in to take it out and break something else while trying to get it out! ;-)
at any rate.. I may just cut the line and splice it as suggested by "Lost".
