The M47 transmission is NO place to save a few bucks. They can last forever, but if they're poorly maintained, they can break quickly.

Personally I think that the M47--synthetic fluid--should be changed at 20k. And maybe 10-15k for non-synthetic. For the cost, you can't beat the savings.

The synthetic should last 15k... it would be worth the $30 bucks for 3 quarts (in case you spill some). Definitely overfill the transmission.
