Synthetic for stick trans?? 200 1987

I changed to Redline MTL (not "MTL-90") and saw an immediate improvement in shift smoothness. Unlike the ATF, the Redline fluid is rated "GL" by the American Petroleum Institute for gear wear protection. In my view it's superior, and if you have concerns about trans durability, it's cheap insurance. Since you only change it every 50 or 60,000 mi, don't even think about a few extra dollars per quart! And heed the advice to tilt the car to the right and slightly overfill the trans.
