Are you looking for mileage or traction? All season or summer only.
If you see little snow and ice, a nice summer tire will be choice. If you see a mix of summer and snow/ice conditions, then a good all-season or ven 2 sets are in order.
I've run Michelin Pilot XGT-V4's (Ultra performance, all-season) with excellent results in the Cincinnati area. We get alot of varying weather conditions. I also participated in SCCA Solo racing in my area, and these help up great and had very good traction/handling/wear in all conditions. This was on my old 744TI. As soon as the current ones on the new 744TI wear down enough, I'm going to a two set system. 205 55 15 Michelin Pilot Alpine (h-rated snow/ice) for winter on stock 15" turbo wheels, and a set of 17" Borbet Type E's or Mille Millaga MM11's with 215 40 17 Yokohama Parada Spec-II tires.
I moved to 205 60 15 with no problems. There is almost no difference from the stock 195 60 15, but the extra 10mm of width does help in the traction/cornering a little. I'd stay with the 205's.
You cannot go wrong with Michelin, but they are a little more in price. I've had great luck lately with Yokohama tires on other cars, and they generally are cheap. Check out www.tirerack.com .
