fuel problem 140-160 1974

This car has the D jet injection system....right?????.....how come I dont remember that. Anyway, assuming it does, check the manifold air pressure unit and the hose leading to it. The MAP sensor measures vacuum, sends a signal to the ECU which changes air/fuel mixture. You push on the accelerator pedal, vacuum goes down, MAP sends a signal calling for a richer mixture. Vacuum leak, MAP doesnt work right, doesnt call for richer mixture. Also check the throttle position switch. Symptoms there are more likely bucking and fuel cutoff rather than just little or no power for acceleration. Go to VClassics.com, look in the archives for a very complete discussion of D jet troubleshooting and repair. Another source is www.icbm.org/erkson/ttt/engine/fuel_injection/d-jet.html.
