I had an experience very similar to yours, I purchased an 87 760T a few months ago. I had to have mine towed to my house!! It didnt run at all. Turns out it was a $30 'Power Stage' not a expensive distributor like to PO claimed. it turned out to be a very good purchase @ $600 as I have already put several k on the car w/ no probs. I did have sysmptoms similar to the ones you describe. I would try to accelrate and I would just lose power. it turns ot that the knock sensor was bad. If it goes bad I think, think, the engine goes into limp mode?? Any way, I replaced the sensor, and ohh baby I had my turbo back. if the price is right, I would take the chance, buy a manual and use this board I bet you will get it running right.
Make sure you check the wiring harness for crumbling insulation. between 83-88, 200 and 700 series had harnesses that deteriorate, check the 700-900FAQ for more details. Check the brown and black ground wires at the intake manifold for crumbling insulation. If found I would defnately negotiate out some money for a new harness -- $200, I rebuilt mine for $30 in supplies though.
As for the ACC, I had that same problem too. Turns out it was bad wiring on a coolant temp sensor that tells the ACC when the coolant temp is above 95deg. This sensor is located under the intake runners 3-4. No signal from this sensor, no ACC function. you can short the input to ground and that will simulte a signal from the sensor.
Sounds like it could be a good deal
Good Luck
