Auto or Manual for performance?

Hi you all
which is better...a 700 series auto aw-71 or manual? it's a turbo, from 1987. Most often, most will say manual. But i hate shifting, and i hear turbos benefit from auto more. which is true? which would you choose and why? what are you experiecnes with either or botH? what do you suppose is the difference in 1/4 time or 0-60 time in using one over the other? (i said that because i want a sort of visual answer...like seconds..hehe)...thanks!
