Steering Box 140-160 71

Has anyone sucessfully "rebuilt" a manual steering box for any of the pre 240 volvos? It's getting hard to find good ones, and once they are sloppy and out od adjustment - there seems to be no solution, except hunting the bone yards for something with a little less free play.

I know the manual says that once you have run out of adjustment,the adjuster bottoms out, they are to be replaced.

Any ideas ?
