I had an unpleasant experience with my Amazon today, went for a drive to a Volvo club meeting at the other side of the ranges when suddenly the temperature starting to go up when driving uphill, this has never happened before, I have travelled that same road just 2 weeks ago at the same speed, same outside temperature and no problems at all. I had to slow down and stop the engine - the engine (exhaust manifold) was very hot, the water was boiling and was pushing out of the filler cap. I decided to return home because the engine was smoking a lot as well. I ended up taking my MG to the Volvo Gymkhana and had a lot of fun.
Earlier this week I had changed the ignition from 10 degrees to 20 degrees because the engine was dieseling a bit. That was the only change I made to the car before the overheating started. So tonight I changed it back to 10 degrees and went for a test drive uphill - overheating gone !!
Can any of you explain this ?
