O2 sensor positioning ALL

I want to build an CO meter to help tune my cars. I can get a kit like the one refered to on turbobricks but the only problem left is where can I put the O2 sensor.

I want to buy an exhaust tip and screw the sensor (heated one) into the tip so that I can move it between cars and still use it while driving. None of my cars have O2 sensors or Cats..........whould being so far from the engine be a problem with a heated sensor?

Thanks All!
