the first thing to check is the fuel pump fuses. Remove the fuse and clean the ends (and the clips). This is very common. I got to the point, that I left the fuse cover off so I could take my hand and just rotate the fuse. I have an 82 with L-jetronic, and I have a single fuel relay. The quickest way to check the relay is to hold it in your hand and turn on the ignition (it is under the dash just above your left knee- mine is purple). If there is power to the relay, you will feel the click of the relay turning on. You will need a factory wiring diagram to identify the power leads (there are two of them to the relay).
