"Where would one order one of the stated kits from?"

Which kit? The clip kit might be ordered from a supplier of Volvo parts, or as I've recently found out, from a glass installer. The 3/8 butyl tape kit is carried at local auto parts stores sometimes, usually I only see 5/16 in stock. I got mine locally (3M p/n 08612) because I was looking for personal assurance it wasn't dusty shelf stock.
