Bulb Failure Sensor? 900 1995

Wow, you are digging up the past and we all appreciate it.

Usually the nuisance resides in the light bulb connection or different brand/batches because a slight offset in amperage will trigger the reed switch. For me, now, rather than testing the bulb out relay, I just replace it with known good relay from a pick and pull, just to rule it out.

Case in point, a son's 1995 had no brake lights including the center. Quick checked a bulb or two and fuse #4, then dug deeper and replaced the bulb out relay.

Still no brake lights. Headed for the back-breaking brake switch, which never fails?, got voltage in and interment voltage out. Blamed my probing at first but it did turn out to be a burned set of contacts on the brake switch. Auto Zone had a Duralast box with an actual "Volvo" branded switch inside for about ~$50.00. Got it rolling again within 4 hours.

BTW, for future searches the brake light switch, the 1995 940 is different from earlier years and is shared with some 960 and others.

Good information on the bulb out relay at http://www.mikeponte.com/volvo/timing.htm
