Had three experiences with alignments over the years: One not-so-good at a large chain service center (and I'll protect Sears' anonymity by not mentioning them by name) and two quite wonderful, both at an old-school mechanic who works on Volvos exclusively and has his own rack, and a Volvo dealership that does its own alignments. The point being: Independent or Corporate--you'll only get what you're looking for by facilities that intimately know the product. Taking the car to Just-Any-Old-Shop,Inc will get you exactly what you already got....a total ass-ache. Find a shop that's familiar with your car. But you knew that already, right?
