Compared with your experience, mine is miniscule, but in that regard may be closer to most of the readers here. I have one 1/2 inch "clicker" and use it only on lug nuts. I leave it set on 65 with a 19mm deep socket on it. For two reasons, I don't trust it for the "critical*" uses: The main reason is it only cost about $10 (I think) at Harbor Freight, so I figure it isn't the kind of quality that will put Snap-On out of business.

But the more important reason is, when going around the wheel in the star pattern, I make a second pass after it clicks on all five -- to be sure. The sense of it is inconsistent, depending on what feels like binding if the wrench handle angle is slightly out of 90 degrees, or how quickly I pull it through the click.

In the late 60's I rebuilt a Torqueflite A727 in my apartment, using industrial torque screwdrivers borrowed from an assembly line at work (at least two if my memory functions that far back) for all those itty-bitty inch-pound fasteners. They were clickers. Every once in a while I wish I didn't return those.

*Please don't flame me to remind me lug nut torque is critical if we share the road.
