49 8284 is almost certainly a 6 bolt B20F. I've never seen this "officially" stated, but I am of the definite opinion (based on observation of 140 parts manual engine type listings) that the 8 bolt engines are all 49 80XX. Your 49 8284 block first appears as a 1972 B20F, continues through 1973 listings, then disappears from the 140 listings altogether in 1974. At that point, all B20F's are shown as 49 80XX blocks.
I guess the question for the real experts then becomes... were there any 6 bolt blocks with metric bottom ends? I honestly don't know, but I have serious doubts that the thread changeover could have happened without changing the basic block numbering sequence as described above.
