Phil refers to the "Motor Type" number. It starts with 49 and will have 6 digits.
Normally either the 49 or 4969 are cast and the remaining 2 or 4 digits will be stamped
on a small rectangular boss immediately behind the cast digits.
Give us the 6-digit number and we can tell you quite a bit about your engine although
not necessarily the year of manufacture.
