Good morning ..BB
I have a 92 245 wagon that when it gets wet, it will not crank.
Things I have done.
*Found, cleaned and lubed a primary ground point (two wires) beside the battery (very rusty).
*Pulled, cleaned and lubed ignition control unit and plate behind it.
Water comes in at the left fender up by the battery ..and wets the area. This morning I used a hair dryer to dry it all up, and cleaned and lubed the ground point mentioned above. It finally started, but would hardly stay idling until it got good and warm.
I know there are more ground points that I need to clean, but this is really the only area that is getting wet under the hood ..hence my attention to that area.
Hope there are some ideas on what I need to look for. I have not pulled the dist cap, or done anything with the air mass meter yet, as they did not get wet. Also there was no water coming in on the back firewall.
Please help me if you can. Thanks. :)
Edit: It is dry inside by the fuse box.
