No start problem fixed. Was this the culprit?

Does the 900 have a Crank positioning sensor?

I would suspect that . They get intermittent like this. Maybe playing with the vacuum line is just a coincidence.

When you took off the vacuum line to the FPR, it was importatnt that you closed off the end of the hose that runs to the Intake manifold. leaving it open just caused another huge vacuum leak.
