No start problem fixed. Was this the culprit?

Vacuum leaks can cause the car to idle high or run crappy, or not start.

Since you took the Tape off the leak and the car started, I'm not too confident you solved the puzzle.

How does the car run if you unlug the MAF?
If you take the front vacuum line off the front of the FPR, is it wet with gas?
It should not be wet in that hose.
