i post this 940 question here because the board is more active and many also have this model.
first the fact: no codes thrown
daughters car 93 940 na sedan regina
2 to 3 times a week (not every time by any means) for the past month the car will upon cold startup stall after the gear shift is placed in reverse. it will without fail restart and run perfectly thereafter.
this morning the car would not start at all. there is a full tank of gas.
i........
1. determined all fuses are intact
2. the fuel pump relay is not a factor by swapping in a known good one
3. i can hear the fuel pump deliver gas to the rail
4. the fuel pressure measured normal at cranking. i swapped in a known good FPR with no effect
5. there is spark at the regina coil wire heading to the distributor
6. there is NO spark to any of the spark plugs and the plugs are wet
at this point i concluded the trouble is electric
7 i removed the cap and found it to be nasty, swapped in a new one i had with no effect. the rotor in there looked good.
8. i swapped a radio relay known good with no effect.
9. i measured the cp sensor and found it to within spec and still swapped in a known good one with no effect
10. the spark plug wires are volvo bourgicord and near new. the regina coil wire to dis is not new but looks good. i have no spare to swap.
opinions please..............what am i missing
