double check on wires to back of cluster 200

today i found a large tach and small clock from an 88 sedan that just arrived in my nearby pick and pull. i wanted to swap it into the cluster in my wagon (1992).

after removing my cluster and the clock in my cluster and swapping the tach for the clock i re connected everything back up. the wiring harness off the small plugged right into the 3 prongs on the top of the tach and the red/white wire i never had use for before plugged into one of the 2 male spade connectors marked 1 in plastic on the base of the tach.

so far so good. i reconnected all the other wires except 1. the one i think powers the old clock.

after connecting the battery and starting up the car all works as it should. the tach, the small clock, the lights for night drving, speedo, idiot lights etc.

i want to make sure i have not made an error.

there is a single wire brown/yellow or something like that with female spade connector which plugged into a single male spade at The base of the cluster just under old the clock. I DID NOT RECONNECT THIS WIRE.

was i correct in thinking this powers the old clock? and is no longer needed?
