I too had trouble with code 232 this winter on my 1995 960 with Bosch Motronic 1.8 FI.
It turned out to be bad gas (high moisture content). When the car was subjected to high moisture situations (car wash!), the "check engine" light would come on
I bought gas somewhere else and that took care of the problem.
The code has not returned since.
