Electrical problem in the Yellow Peril 140-160 1973

George - I can definitely relate to the wandering manifold support rod problem, as I had that exact event happen last year on the race car. In my case however, it simply took out the alternator. To date, I have not had any problem with the wiring between the alternator and the battery. This despite replacing the alternator 2 or 3 times during the race season... those $40 rebuilds from O'Reillys are not the most robust of units. But of course with a lifetime warranty, after the first 40 bucks they're free! BTW, apparently I do have the same setup as the YP... externally regulated Bosch alternator. FWIW, I have never found the regulator bad during any of these failures... I have 2 spare regulators and usually rotate them into use as part of the troubleshooting procedure.
