Couple of points.
Someone mentioned the limited lookback period, or statute of limitations. There is no statute of limitations on an unfiled return, and that appears to be the position that New York is taking.
Any medium size CPA firm, and certainly Block can handle a multitude of state returns - don't know where you are know, but I'm sure you can find someone local to handle your situation.
Also, consider just filling in the forms yourself and filing that way. New York has all of the prior years' return forms and instructions on its website, and it's really not rocket science.
