Decrease in mileage during cold weather - why? 700 1989

short runs-cold cylinder walls (condensed fuel) additional enrichment for cold temps- viscosity issues in the trans and rear axle- don't forget the wheel bearings and yes, winter fuel.

Just made a 2,800 mile trip to Ohio at Christmas and averaged just shy of 29 mpg- '87 745 B230FT M46 so once everything reaches operating temperatures and stays there for prolonged periods the mileage would be affected too much.

Roof racks are mileage killers, hauling kayaks I can drop to 22-24 mpg or worse.
