Decrease in mileage during cold weather - why? 700 1989

"the colder, more dense air has a noticeable effect on the vehicle air resistance."

Uhhh, so does your ski rack...roof racks can decrease mileage up to 25%.

The reason for reduced mileage in the winter is reformulated gas and cold starts, which require a richer air/fuel mix.
