Re: Odometer 200 83

In reference to your broken speedo, yes they can be repaired.

On the 83, it is a mechanical speedo (cable driven.) It can be repaired at any speedo shop that does foriegn (VDO) speedos. Cost should be between $55 and $75 for a complete rebuild. This should include the fix, a lubrication of the mechanism, and a calibration of the speedo itself. If you want, they can even put more miles on it for you! Getting miles taken off is another story...

The good thing about the mechanical speedos is the fact that you can drive the car without the instrument cluster. This means you can pull the whole cluster, drop it off or ship it, and still drive the car. Can't do this with 86+ 240's

I've listed two shops below depending on your location:

www.paspeedo.com

www.speedometer.com

and Cape Coral Speedometer in FL somewhere...
