A while ago I solicited diagnosis for my 744, which would run for 2 minutes and stall, only restarting if left to rest for a few minutes.
Most opinions ran to the ignition power stage.
Today with VOM and O scope in hand, I found the Radio Suppression relay seemed to be the culprit. Unfortunately, when I moved it into position to get a VOM on it, the problem promptly disappeard and the car ran fine, and kept doing so ad infinitum. SO, who knows?
I was wondering if there is anything in that relay box other than a simple relay. The schematic shows but a basic SPST relay. I'm wondering if I might just sub a basic realy such as the ones used for fog lights or such? But then, why do they call it a radio suppression relay. To me that makes no sense, a relay cannot do noise suppression.
I took a look at the 200 series manual and this same function (providing power to the injectors and AMM meter) is performed by the system relay.
Is there a difference?
