The glass reflective part of my outside mirror just fell off. I was in a carwash when it fell. I couldn't retrieve it and I heard the car behind me smash it.

Where do I get a replacement part?

If you have 240 made prior to '85, now would probably be a good time to put a pair of chrome side view mirrors on it. Having upgraded my '80 245 that originally came with the black plastic ones, I can tell you that the chrome ones are much better. It's probably my favorite upgrade I've done to my car.

Aside from looking pretty from the outside, they also provide a better view of the outside. Good luck.

What year is yours? I don't know what year the mount changed, but swapping out the mirror on my 1980 was a ten-minute job. Maybe less. Same for getting one off the parts car. Just be sure to catch the spacer when you take off the mount screw from the interior side.

The 1992 looks like it might be harder. I haven't had to change one.

US cars don't have convex driver's mirrors, and mirrors aren't made
of safety glass[*]. If you can't find a junkyard with a 240 similar
to yours, you can go to a glass cutter's shop, and they will cut
you mirror glass of the correct size and shape - provide a piece
of paper with the backing plate traced on it as a template. Use
windshield urethane glue to attach the glass to the backplate.
