H20 pump 200 1984

I have just recently had to replace my water pump. The old one was leaking coolant and also the bearings were shot which lead to a very noisey squeel in my belts. I had to put the new one on 4 seperate times due to the miss alignment of the heater tube. Well, anyhow I thought that i had it and now i have a slow leak at that particular point. If anyone has any pointers as how to apply the new water pump without leaking let me know. It would be most appreciative. It is a tricky one.
