hi boris,
i agree with spook (jay).
with a bit of investigation into the alternator, ie take it apart, look at the brushes, etc, you might discover the failure cause.
for example, i had a denso alt fail on me, but with the help of youtube in diagnosing alternators, i discovered it had a mfg flaw in the stator. ordered the stator with a spare brush set, and fixed it.
used a vom meter.
i buy spare used parts from the junkyard as backups and keep them on the shelf, if you're planning on keeping your volvo on the road for years.
regards,
