You mentioned "The car recently had a coil installed"
--> Was this before or after the "no start when hot" issue?
Assuming this a 940 with Bosch ignition system, is the replacement coil has same specs as the old one?
The coil has to be "matched" with the ignition module (aka ignition amplifier aka ignition power stage). If left unmatched the ignition module may run hotter than usual leading to frequent engine shut-downs. The trouble may had been started with the heat paste of ignition module flaked off with age (plus vibrations) causing module overheating thus engine shut-down when hot. Made worse possibly using unmatched coil.
Renew the heat paste. Use only Bosch coil meant for 940.
