When or should I change front and/or rear wheel bearings? 200

Hello,

Agree, the only reason to change them is if they start singing the bearing failure song, and trust me you will hear the squeal if happens. Had a 79 Chevy Malibu that used to eat bearings front and back, remember the sound well. Not supposed to be a Volvo issue unless you run them dry.

Pack wheel bearings every time you change break pads is how I was taught. Suggest a good heavy duty grease called Mystik JT6, red in color. Learned about that from my oil patch career. Any grease that can stay in place in that heat and environment should last in a wheel bearing for a long time. You can get it at Tractor Supply and some local Auto houses. JT-6, PB Blaster, Marine Clean, and POR 15 are on my greasy thumb way up chemical list right now.

Good Luck,

Paul
