Sorry Brandion, but how could this possibly be the ignition switch?
The starter motor gets its power from an electrical solenoid (relay). If you are hearing the starter motor turning then the starter motor is already getting its power from the secondary side of the relay and the question of whether, or not, the ignition switch is working, is already out of the picture.
The 850 ignition switch is a weak point, but that is not the problem here.
I am not familiar with an 850's starter motor, but all starter motors have a bendix, or mechanical solenoid mechanism, which engages, and disengages, the drive gear.
Your problem is either in this engagement/disengagement mechanism, the solenoid, or your ring gear (is this a separate part, or unitized with the flywheel?).
Whatever the problem is, get it fixed quickly. If you persist in grinding the starter motor, your ring gear will become damaged and that will neccesitate a splitting of the engine and bell housing in order to replace the ring gear.
