Check Engine Light ON ... why?????

400 hundred miles on my new Volvo and my first long trip ... check engine light comes on. It is not the gas cap, because I am still driving with the first tank of gas from the dealer. The car runs fine ... no text messages to stop immediately or repair immediately. I have a call in to the dealer, but I am 200 miles away. What could be the problem? Anyone have a similar experience?
