alternator problem? 850

No special tools needed. If it's the alternator it may just need brushes. Bad grounds or other connections can fool it into thinking the battery is charged so it won't put out even under load. Also the "new" battery may be funky. If it has high internal resistance it will "fool" the alternator also. A bench test of the alternator will tell the true story.
