I was filling the tank starting from 1/4 full. The shutoff of the pump occurs 2 seconds after fuel flows.
If I take the filler spout out and start over the same thing happens.
Could the fuel EVAP vent solenoid be stuck closed? The air in the fuel tank is being displaced by fuel, so there must be a vent path back to the atmosphere. I never really understood how the EVAP could allow venting when the car is fueling, but not when the car is just sitting parked. Does this car know when it's being fueled?
I guess I'll put a balloon over the vent air filter opening, and observe whether it expands while adding fuel.
Where can I get documentation of the fuel tank EVAP system, including concept of operation?
