Replace blower motor V70-XC70

2000 V70SE B5244S AW55-SN

Daughter's car, several hundred miles away; she says blower fan not working and so there is no AC. (blower fan has not been replaced since new 15 years ago, so probably about due).

So I am troubleshooting from long distance. Daughter says the orange ECC warning lights do blink. For a while the fan would blow intermittently and then, not at all. She has no access to code/reader.

I've searched the BB forum and have a pretty good idea where to start, and I have a new blower motor and resistor pack to install when I visit next weekend. I plan to replace both the motor and resistor.

Anything to consider before I start the repair/replace work?
