Klaus:

Installed a new lock on the car and that took care of the problem. It is an internal problem with the old lock and the only solution is a new lock. It is a learning experience to replace the lock as there are very poor illustrations in the few manuals. This was a $140 item from fcp.

Anyway, in my searching I have not seen anyone have this problem. There are no rods to lube or external parts one can fix. Am sure it is an internal electrical problem. Will operate on old unit sometime.
