Hi checksix,
Still doing detective work on this v40. I have the original receipt that shows tbelt, tensioner and check of idler pulley done on 7/11/07 along with some other stuff like oil change and serp belt. Also has a note that at that time they connected the Volvo scan tool to the v40 and found stored codes. As a result of this they inspected and replaced "camshaft reset valve" which they found to be bad. Funny thing about this is it was a no charge item since it was replaced at a previous service on 10/13/06... less than a year earlier. I am still waiting to get my hands on the copy of the big bux estimate that was done by the indy recently to see about any mention of the variable timing gizmo on this car. Btw, this car has only been driven about 6000 miles since the tbelt/ tensioner install. Sleuthing continues.
