timing belt replacemt - some questions 850 1993

I read that if the disk was there before you should put a new one in in its place. If memory serves my belt which I bought from a dealer had the disk in the package. I found that the tensioner on my car (which I did not replace) had a disk on it, so I replaced that with the new one.
