2000 S70 GLT Spark Plug Question S70

Hi,

Couple of quick questions....

I replaced my spark plugs today with OEM R6 784's. The old plugs had R6 684 on them. Is there any real difference? Cost for 5plugs was 40.00 at dealer with coupon. Kind of high, but I'm a novice.

Before changing them today, sometimes it would have minor trouble starting, hard to describe, the rpms would pop up quickly but then not fully start/die. Never threw any OBD2 codes, and would ALWAYS start, after cranking again. Once started, it would never sputter, never die, and rpms would be fine. It was just at start up.

I went through my dealer service records and noticed I had skipped the 90k service so the plugs had not be changed since the 60k service and I'm at 110k miles. So 50k miles on the plugs seemed pretty good to me.

Anyway, after removing the tork screwed black plastic cover thing above plugs, I noticed that the wires did not look like normal spark plugs wires I'm used to seeing. And some of the black 'tubing' around the spark plug wires had fallen off or become brittle.

What kind of spark plug wires are these? Should they be replaced?

Also, while pulling out plug #5, (closest to drivers side), I did notice oil on the plug and some on the plug wire. All other plugs were 'dry' but this one was obviously 'wet'.

I'm not very handy, but I did get an sense of accomplishment changing the plugs, and so far the car is running just fine, the starting problem seems to have gone away. I knew the starting problem was not the immobizer/antenna ring cuz I've had that problem twice before.

Here is a pic for your enjoyment. I took several pics during the project. Thanks.
