Hesitation and difficult running S80 2000

The same symtems seem to be happening to my car but my mechanic said it was diagnosed as a throttle control unit. Would that be the same thing and is it covered? He said it will have to go to the dealership to be fixed because the computer will have to be reset. Does this sound correct?
