Loud squeak/click on front passenger wheel - Struts? 850

I have a rather loud squeaking / clicking sound coming from my front passenger side wheel when I drive down the road. As the suspension absorbs everyday bumps it squeaks and creaks - especially if it is cold and dry. Les Schwab (tire co.) just fixed the passenger side lower ball joint / control arm which they said could have been making that noise - big surprise, it wasn't. So now they are telling me that it needs struts and I'm wondering if that could be making the squeak/click sound? It has been growing louder over the past year or more, especially loud when it's cold - it is loud enough that unless you blast the music it is considerably annoying.

Not sure if anyone has had a similar issue?
