I’d stay from the 2001- 2003 V70’s and XC70’s. 2001’s are the worst of the lot. Gradually improved so by 2004 the tranny problems seemed to be in the past. Newer Volvos seem to have some problems too. So maybe the sweet spot is 2004-2012 or so??

Don’t know what model years Ford had a direct impact on.
